Strategic Democracy - Origin
This work is based on the teachings of H. Igor Ansoff (Father of Strategic Management). It is for transactioning with TURBULENCE in Society for a better FUTURE.
Our practice is multidisciplinary in the sense that it seeks an optic appropriate to the problem and not to a particular scientific discipline."

Strategic Democracy Fundamental Questions
It is impossible to begin to learn that which one thinks one already knows.
Epictetus
Strategic Democracy, neither promotes a party nor favors any political candidate, nor is skewed towards personalities or favoritism. It focuses on actions and outcomes. It critiques (appreciation &/or criticism) interactions as necessary for knowledge and/or action alongside the current situation and/or the anticipated future. It is not neutral for it seeks effectiveness, efficiency, and equitability in results. While, respecting your ability, age, economics, education, ethnicity, gender, politics, and religion among other things.

This is about Leading & Managing the people's Business in USA.
This is about managing and leading the people's business in the USA only. Other countries will require customization. Nevertheless, other countries can benefit from the practice. The focus is on the executive and legislative branches of the US government, with attention to the Supreme Court for leading and managing the affairs of the citizens of the United States of America.
They are the population of this work and play a major role in society. That role if poorly lead and managed will hamper: freedom, individual liberty, representative government, rule of law under God, and future growth & development.
This is intended as a brief to inspire you to look & see, perceive & understand, decide &/or act. It contains an overview to answer the question and provide a monograph for all USA public office candidates that wish to use this approach.

Two Things to Introduce
I- Rebooting Democracy
II- Tamer KARTS
We know from chaos theory that even if you had a perfect model of the world, you'd need infinite precision in order to predict future events. With socio-political or economic phenomena, we don't have anything like that.
Nassim Nicholas Taleb
Almost any dictionary defines democracy as "a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives." Which is what is practiced in the USA. Specifically, the USA is a republic as a régime, thrusting towards capitalism, and employing democracy as a method.
To cut a long story short; both Strategic Democracy and Operational Democracy supplement each other and complement Democracy through the interactions between knowledge, action(s) and result(s) over time in society (Tamer KARTS). Its purpose is to ensure the survival, profitability, growth, and development of the USA at scale. The thrust is to improve existing practice and create exceptional futures.
It is a paradigm for deliberate and/or emergent leadership and management of ourselves, each other, and institutions over time in society. It is a multidisciplinary paradigm for complementing democracy with fundamentals from leadership and management; focusing on strategic management and all knowledge rather than politics and economics.

(Borrowed Wisdom)
What a terrible era in which idiots govern the blind. William Shakespeare From the “Julius Caesar” play.
1. Gaps between leaders and followers.
Democracy is the pit of mediocrity! 1993 Discussion with H. Igor Ansoff (Father of Strategic Management)
2. Gaps between theory (knowledge) and practice (actual).

To close the GAPS
How?
The mind adapts and converts to its own purposes the obstacle to our acting. The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way."
Marcus Aurelius in his Meditations, Book 5.20.
I- Reboot Democracy
(15 second Video) Reboot Democracy So, let us reboot Democracy by integrating and/or differentiating the strategic and operational modes, as follows:
1. Operational democracy tackles stable environments that contain issues, events, problems etc... Which are repetitive and experienced before; supplemented with a high state of knowledge and adequate time to respond. Such as discrimination (ability, gender, color, religion, age, income and other), drug addiction, computer privacy, unemployment, and hunger. It is a known problem and solutions either exist or could be developed. 2. Strategic democracy addresses turbulent environments that contain issues, events, problems etc... Which are novel surprises not experienced before; supplemented with low state of knowledge and time constraints. For instance, COVID19, Oil crisis and stock market collapse. It is either an unknown problem or partially known and solutions are either partial or do not exist; development of solutions is required. 3. Both modes are impactful and urgent whereas, the former is addressed sequentially and latter concurrently. Sometimes they overlap which requires balancing. |
II- Tamer KARTS
(24 second Video) Apply Tamer KARTSTamer KARTS stands for:
Knowledge
& Action for Results over Time in Society. To look and see,
to perceive and understand, and to decide and/or act. There is a unique Tamer KARTS for every event. It is intended for taming engagements in the three modes, namely: 1. Operational Democracy, 2. Strategic Democracy, and 3. Both. |
The three modes engage society, which contains, individuals, groups and institutions on the on hand, and an environment that could be stable and/or turbulent, on the other. Which requires Tamer KARTS while matching action in the form of: distinct strategies, distinct supporting capabilities, distinct investments, and distinct change processes. Coupled with deliberate and/or emergent leadership and management from strategic management of ourselves, each other, and institutions over time in society while interacting with turbulence. Therefore, an effective, efficient, and equitable future potential results happen by engaging all modes through matching action(s).

The problem in simple term is a gap between what we are capable of doing and what we are doing. That is producing fires (harm).
Multi-dimensional pendulum and ping pong interactions between and among individuals, groups and institutions. Materializing at the societal level as gaps (fragilities) of opposing directions in societal institutions, which are: economy, education, environment (natural), health, marriage & the family, law & order, information & media, politics, religion, technology, and maybe other. (24 second video)
Strategic Democracy is intended for everyone to participate in an undertaking framed by (tentative; to be reviewed and discussed before finalization):
- Vision - "We the people", improving existing practice & creating an exceptional future.
- Mission - Helping each other look & see, perceive & understand, decide &/or act.
- Purpose - Insure the survival, growth, development, and success of USA.
- Aim - For everyone of "we the people" to become better in every way and have better interactions with other countries.
- Strategic Objective - Achieve effective, efficient, and equitable future.
- Operational Objective:
- Goal - A gauge to measure the degree of objective achievement (success/failure).
- Limitations - Resistance and/or Support to learning and practicing.
- Some Fundamental Questions:
- What can be done to better democracy?
- How to periodically and/or real-time, plan and implement in society over time for an exceptional future?
- Results - contribute to people practicing with "skin in the game" and materialized "antifragility" in five categories, as follows: practical applicability, further testing, what not to do, do not know, and backup with precautionary preparation.
- Critique - Strategic democracy addresses the future potential for survival, improvement, growth and development. It is based on leadership and management, focusing on strategic management. The core of the argument is that democracy is the best form of government yet, in the USA, it has not performed exceptionally. Therefore, strategic democracy was created to complement democracy through Tamer KARTS by leading and managing different aspects of societal institutions. Appreciation and/or criticism are welcome and encouraged, hence we will be dealing with many unknowns.
USA Vision - "We the people", improving existing practice & creating an exceptional future. For everyone of "we the people" to become better in every way and have better interactions with other countries.
USA Mission - Helping each other look & see, perceive & understand, decide &/or act. For insuring the survival, growth, development, and success of future undertakings.

In General
Engage stable &/or turbulent environment(s) by deliberate and/or emergent leadership and management focusing on strategic management of ourselves, each other, and institutions over time in society.
Specifically
By responding effectively, efficiently, and equitably; either sequentially (periodic), and/or concurrently (real-time), and/or mixture (balance) of the two in society. Whereas society contains:
I. Entities - that produce interactions between individuals, groups, and institutions (economy, education, environment (ecology), health, marriage & the family, law & order, information & media, politics, religion, technology, and maybe other).
II. Environment - stable and/or turbulent determined by:
1. Unpredictability:
III. Respond to the above by matching Vision, Mission, Objectives, Goals, Turbulence, Strategy, Capability, Change, and Investment determines Growth &/or Profit at scale over Time to the entities (#I above).
IV. After rebooting democracy into:
I. Entities - that produce interactions between individuals, groups, and institutions (economy, education, environment (ecology), health, marriage & the family, law & order, information & media, politics, religion, technology, and maybe other).
II. Environment - stable and/or turbulent determined by:
1. Unpredictability:
- Visibility of future, and
- Speed of change.
- Novelty of Events (familiarity), and
- Complexity, which contains: Scope (ranging from local to global) and decision making and/or judgements that are affected by interaction of the entities.
III. Respond to the above by matching Vision, Mission, Objectives, Goals, Turbulence, Strategy, Capability, Change, and Investment determines Growth &/or Profit at scale over Time to the entities (#I above).
IV. After rebooting democracy into:
- strategic democracy to address turbulent environment,
- operational democracy to address stable environments, and
- mixed to address any combination of the above two.

4. How to lead and manage the above?
It is not external events themselves that cause us distress, but the way in which we think about them...It is our attitudes and reactions that give us trouble. We cannot choose our external circumstances, but we can always choose how we respond to them.
Epictetus from “The Enchiridion” written by Arrian
The most effective way to do it, is to do it.
Amelia Mary Earhart - on taking the first steps.
Components
Two complementary and concurrent parts constitute this work, namely:
Part I. Produce a book (in progress) entitled Strategic Democracy, with main emphasis on the Federal Government of the USA., Videos, and others, which does not concern this group. Status: scheduled for publication around the end of 2023. I am at the stage of inserting graphics, figures, and double-checking references.
Part II. Produce a Strategic Democracy monograph (this web page) Videos, and others, which concerns this group. That will be given to people that want to run for office in the USA. For that purpose, some points are emphasized, which are:
a. Strategic Democracy is only about the USA, participants from other countries are welcome. Other countries will require customization, yet participants from other countries can gain from the experience.
b- This is voluntary work to produce material. If you choose to participate there is no compensation. I am hoping for 1-3 people from every USA state (range of 50-150) to collect data and include it in this portion of the work. That could be adjusted depending on participants i.e., 1 person covering 2 states or more (to be configured/re-configured while engaging). I believe that a range between 25 – 250 people can produce what meets the requirements of data collection and to be interpreted and included in the monograph. Therefore, we have a range of outcomes between two extremes:
- Mediocre: Monograph with content from the book (#I above) only and minimal feedback.
- Outstanding: A monograph with content from the book (#1 above) and all the 50 states.
c- Everyone that participates will get training on research methodology; not search.
d- Everyone that participates will be acknowledged in the acknowledgement.
e- This work is for everyone
f- Respectfully, I reserve the right to include/exclude people.
g- While, setting the stage for development, growth, and benefit.
Please, feel free to critique.

This work builds on the interactions for addressing current and future issues. The interactions are between:
- Leadership and Management
- Tamer KARTS, which stands for Knowledge and Actions interactions for Results over Time in Society (KARTS), to produce best combination required for the response in society.
- Democracy containing three components, namely; Strategic Democracy, Operational Democracy, and a mixture of the two over time to respond to the future.
- Society:
- Transactions among the above to produce optionality in response.
Deliberate and/or emergent leadership and management; focusing on Strategic Democracy of ourselves, each other, and institutions over time in society while interacting with turbulence. Learn and apply Tamer KARTS: Knowledge, Action, Results over Time in Society.
Limitations
Since all models and tools have limits that work at certain times but fail at others e.g., Strategic Planning, SWOT, MBO, Blue Ocean Strategy, MBE, Issue Management, Managing by competitive edge, etc. Hence, a precautionary predisposition of this work is openness for invention, innovation, creativity, and critique (appreciation and/or criticism). Therefore, this work is constantly renewing through learning and practice. Thus, we are limited to the extent that we learn and use "Tamer KARTS" (acronym for Knowledge and Action interactions for Results over Time in Society) to better Democracy. Which contains Strategic Democracy, &/or Operating Democracy &/or a mixture (balance) of the two over Time.

1. Do we want to keep doing what we are doing and expect different results?

From the book, "De Beneficiis" by Seneca
Actionable propositions will be provided to better the future as measured by effective, efficient, and equitability outcome(s). The thrust of the undertaking is to facilitate democracy in many ways, such as:
- If your nation is a democracy, then strategic democracy contributes to its survival, improvement, and growth and development.
- If your nation is not a democracy, then strategic democracy sets the stage for a future democracy.
